Troy University's John M. Long School of Music offers a full range of performing opportunities in instrumental and vocal music. Among the many groups that students may choose are the Symphony Band and Chamber Winds for advanced instrumentalist, the nationally-renowned "Sound of the South" Marching Band, the Collegiate Singers, the "Sound of the South" Concert Band, the TROY Gospel Choir, high level jazz and jazz chamber ensembles, and the auditioned Chamber Choir for the advanced vocalist. Many other instrumental and vocal opportunities exist for students of all interests and abilities. Additionally, performances and residencies throughout the year by nationally and internationally prominent visiting artists provide inspiration and personal contact for students with the best in their fields.
A substantial scholarship program is in place to aid talented students in financing their education at TROY. Musicians are invited to audition in one or more of the areas listed below, by contacting the appropriate director(s) and by coming to campus on one of the selected dates.
Major performances are scheduled on or adjacent to the audition days so that students and parents will be able to experience the quality of the performing arts at Troy University.
A visit to campus is highly recommended, if at all possible, but if distance or schedule makes this impossible, please contact us and alternative arrangements will be made for your audition.
Troy University has provided strong financial support and has created a highly favorable climate for fine arts study.
We invite you to come and be a part of our friendly and talented performing arts community. The beautiful campus and small-town atmosphere of the city of Troy will aid in making your educational experience second-to-none.
The John M. Long School of Music awards thousands of dollars in scholarships each year to qualified students. These scholarships are available to ALL Troy University students by audition.
