MUS-1181 Concert Band

M-W-F 2:00-2:50

Raymond H. Smith, Director

The “Sound of the South" Concert Band is open to all Troy University students. The purpose of this class is to study and perform the best in band music.  This ensemble is designed to serve as both a laboratory for the music education major and a performing ensemble of the highest caliber for students of any major.  Music major are encouraged to perform on secondary instruments as needed by the ensemble and determined by the director.

Rehearsals:    The Concert Band meets M-W-F from 2:00-2:50 PM.  One dress rehearsal may be required before a performance. All members are expected to be at every rehearsal and performance.  After musical selections are assigned, preparation of all details of the music is required.  Individual practice is the most important part of all musical preparation.

Performance:     In recent years, the 2:00 Concert Band has performed two concerts during the Spring Semester, one at the request of the Alabama Bandmasters Association for presentation at the District Honor Band Clinic and one outdoor concert for the enjoyment of the Troy campus and the greater community.
