M-W-F 1:00-1:50 Dr. Mark J. Walker, conductor
The 1:00 Concert Band meets during each spring semester and is open to all instrumentalists on campus without audition and performs up to two concerts during the semester. Almost all majors from across campus are represented by students in the 1:00 Concert Band, and it provides rich opportunities for music education majors to expand their skills and expertise on secondary instruments. The 1:00 Concert Band explores and performs the finest in band literature, from the cornerstones of band music to more contemporary music to outstanding transcriptions of standard orchestral literature to medleys of popular songs, movies and Broadway shows. Additionally, this ensemble provides a laboratory environment for undergraduate and graduate conducting students who are preparing for future careers as band directors. The 1:00 Concert Band rehearses Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1:00 to 1:50 with a dress rehearsal. Membership is open to any student instrumentalist without audition.
