Jazz is an important part of the instrumental music program at Troy University. The Jazz Chamber Ensemble, established in 1998, is available by audition for students with advanced jazz backgrounds. The JCE is a showcase for jazz activities at TSU. Traveling and performing widely throughout the Southeast, this ensemble is noted for its individual players skills, its extensive jazz repertory and performance of student compositions. Students receive instruction in ensemble techniques, improvisation, and jazz styles as part of an advanced study of small jazz group performance.

Jazz chamber ensembles perform at a variety of university functions as well as presenting concerts and clinics throughout the Southeast. Membership is open to any full time TSU student.

Scholarships are available for performance in the JCE.
